We can't just poke around an established government agency because we feel they are not doing their job properly.
What do you (You refers to people who think above, not one in particular) say about the people who filed lawsuit and got the 180 day Name check rule to implementation faster? Not that I am proposing lawsuits, just an example to disprove what you said.
I am trying to figure out what you guys are trying to say. If you guys think that CIS will give you the GC on the day they will feel like and you are cool with it, Why even hopping around boards either for information or anything. She also made a statement that she will try for more benefits for permanent residents.

May be she is afraid of Lou Dobbs...Recently he has been criticizing her for her Indian ties

Time to vote on major efforts that do help the community really and she votes 'no' obviously its her nature to double talk and some talk show hosts have rightly identified that and drill her on that. If you are stuck at Atlanta PERM backlog center , please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
I know most of the people on this forum are not in this situation ..... but let's see how many can come out of this selfishness and help others by emailing / phoning DOL Atlanta to help other brothers who want to file AOS just like them...... My question (and suggestion) is, can the reverse happen in 2007-2008?
I know, this is an opportunistic and shameless suggestion from my part. But the fact of the matter is, we are rightfully entitled to the same number of visa numbers that we effectively 'loaned' to the FB visa category in the previous years.
What is important is that this sort of give and take can happen with out any law change. We only need to cry louder than FB folks, and USCIS may give unused FB visas to EB category.

Missouri story - I was sent home by DMV office, reason, I was not carrying my latest Pay stubs. I hate these Midwestern states...they were sleeping before 9/11 and suddenly woke up and squeezed their asses. Can you imagine, ignorant DMV in Missouri gave me DL on B1/B2 visa in 2000? I showed them Passport as proof#1 and US visa as proof#2 and ignorant officer said...you are good to go! Now 7 years later, it is written in bold over there....
ONLY US CITIZENS walk away with DMV, rest everyone go through USCIS.
Just like in a desi shop in arm pit state New Jersey I saw this..."IN GOD WE TRUST, REST EVERYONE PAY CASH"
I knew I will have issues with DMV so I paid extra 1000 to get H1B premium and retained my privilege to drive. Believe me guys....this is America.....spend more...save more!

Hey, if you think that the government agencies are treating legal immigrants badly and we are being "cheated and treated like retards", may be all of us should move to a country where the laws are more flexible, aah… like India. How often have you been on a forum in your home country lobbying for injustices being rendered to citizens, none probably. Just because we are in a country where there is a small chance for a group of people like ourselves in the IV have the privilege to have our voices heard does not mean we ask for the sun. Do you think in a economy like this with high gas prices, the war, and not to mention the ailing social security system and everything else asking the government to stop taking SS tax and Medicare from non- immigrant workers is going to fly, I DON’T THINK SO. And not only that we will end up looking like a bunch of guys with outrageous demands.
So all I am saying is the issue is not SS or Medicare or entry date being the PD, but it is MORE IMMIGRANT VISA NUMBERS. I think we have lost our focus after the bill was shot down in the senate. We have just ONE demand if I am not mistaken, and I think the core team will agree with me on this and that is to ease retrogression by having more visa numbers in the pool for countries like India and China and that should be our only demand.
Although on first reading I was agreeing with the person who indicated that deducting SS and Medicare from non-immigrants does not make sense, lets look at it from another perspective... most of us would agree that more than 50 to 60% of non-immigrants or dual intent immigrants (read H1 visas for the purpose of this thread) are trying to obtain their permanent residency. Now, if the SS and Medicare are not deducted while you are on a H1B (boy, the employers would love this because as per law they have to match your deduction dollar for dollar) and you get your green card, you would be essentially starting with an empty kitty (i.e. the benefits that you would have accrued over the 9-10 years that it took you to get your GC are zero. Now, whose loss is that? I think, the better alternative would be the proposal by Sen. Kyle/Sen. Cornyn where they advocate that a temporary worker who has to go back will get the money when he leaves. If you don't and get your GC done, then the money goes into the SS/Medicare kitty and that way nobody loses.:)

But its really unfortunate to know that President Bush is gonna veto the bill altogether.

We (5 People) work for IBM company, SFO, today we went personally to the congress men and we submit the letter which is provided in this forum and after that we called state senator office and we explained about our problem. We faxed and email the letter to the senator office, staff had taken my contact details and they told me that they will inform the solution in 2days.
